While still in Morioka, he and three of his friends produced a short anime film titled Bakuhatsu Choujin Kanada Man (爆発超人・金田マン), which was inspired by renown animator Yoshinori Kanada. The film was screened at an amateur film festival in 1985 and subsequently featured in the anime magazine Animage.
In 2008, he married fellow animator Mariko Itou, and changed his name to Itou.
Passed away from a brain hemorrhage on May 23, 2020.
